You can be as happy as you want.

We all want to be happy, most times our pursuit of happiness pushes us towards making more money, being more successful but, true happiness is within us it is not based on our level of success or the abundance of our wealth, neither is it based on our current circumstance. It is a decision you have to make.

You have to realize that the only thing in life that will always remain constant is change. You may not be able to control what happens to you in life but, you have the power to make determine how you can react to it and make necessary adjustments in order transform the change to suit you. YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU WANT TO. Even if you find yourself in an unbearable situation we can always find comfort in the knowledge that we can overcome any challenge that confronts us.

Having understood the Fact that you have control over your reactions, let us the look at the 10 simple things you can do daily to stay happy:

Accept People for who they are

 

People are different, accepting this fact will help you to accept people for who or what they are. Don’t try to force your opinion or ideologies on other and get angry when they refuse to do just as you want them to do. Just as life is dynamic so are the humans. Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness and to have a good relationship with people u have to learn how to respect and accept them with their unique differences.

Let go of resentment and cultivate the habit of forgiveness

If it is possible try to avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem unavoidable still, try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along with well with people more. Make your opinion known and avoid further argument.

Choose to be happy

To be happy is relatively easy, just decide to be a happy person. Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy.

Cultivate the attitude of gratitude

Being grateful is a great attitude.  We have so much to be thankful for. Thank God for keeping you alive. It is only the living that has hope for a better future. Be grateful for those little things of life that we all take for granted.

Keep away from News

News is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can’t start their day without their daily dose of news. Try and think about it, over 90% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting the day with bad news does not seem to be a sensible thing to do. If being active on social media disrupts your peace, try to minimize the time you spend there and focus more time on personal development and meditation.

Have a personal relationship with your creator.

A religious connection is good and also recommended. But, having a personal relationship with your creator brings inner peace and hope to take each day at a time trusting that God will take care of your future.  Participation in religious activities such as singing, sacraments, chanting, prayers and meditations also helps to promote inner peace.

Set your priorities right and cultivate a time management skill.

The saying that “time na money”(Nigeria slang meaning Time is money) can’t be over-emphasized.  Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be seen as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make out time for recreation and spending time with your loved ones.

Don’t take life too seriously

Learn to Laugh and laugh very heartily every day. Share a good joke with your friends or family. Smile often. Always have put on a cheerful face – it is the best makeup and it is inexpensive.

Cultivate the habit of expressing yourself

Express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent-up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead, find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone.

Don’t be idle

Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary for all of us, they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel is worthy of your time and will take you a step closer towards achieving your life dreams.

Learn something new daily.

Try and learn something new every day.  Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons. Learning also opens more doors of opportunities in the future.

Exercise daily

Forming a habit of exercising your muscles daily will help keep you healthy and fit. You must not get yourself do it in a gym. You can run, jog, walk, dance, swim, jump, climb and do other forms of exercise that will make you feel alive.

 

Happiness is actually possible for everyone, so make a decision to be a happy person today, Always keep in mind this quote from Abraham Lincoln, that says, “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

Living a happy and optimistic life is possible, and is also good for a healthy wellbeing. Being happy actually, protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to the top cause of a lot of illnesses such as depression, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer and stroke.
